When you are hunting on the Ft Peck Indian Reservation, if approached by an individual(s) who tell you that you must pay a fee to access the land you are hunting on – DO NOT PAY THEM!
It is illegal and they have no authority to extort money or valuables from you.
Please get any information such as their license plate number, make and model of their vehicle, description of person and name if they have provided that to you, and description of site (GPS readings would be great) and report to Ft Peck Tribes Fish & Wildlife staff at 406-768- 7270 and/or email to rmagnan@fortpecktribes.net.

Fort Peck Tribes Enrolled Member Buffalo Hunt Lottery
2024 Hunting Season (Sept. 15 – Dec. 20)
Applications are available beginning June 1 and accepted until the end of business day (4:30 pm) on July 31st. The lottery takes place Thursday August 2nd in the tribal chambers during the Law & Order Committee meeting. Completed applications can be mailed or dropped off at the office of Ft. Peck Tribes Fish & Wildlife Department.
2024 Fort Peck Tribes Big Game Season
For the 2024, Fort Peck Tribes Game and Fish Program is switching to an online license program for all license sales, auctions, and lotteries for our big game hunts. To purchase a license, apply for a lottery, or enter auctions simply go online. All licenses with the exception of Big Game will be available on 06/1/2024. All lotteries and auctions will be available online on 06/1/2024 and ends 07/31/2024.
For the 2024 Antelope Season we will be offering 25 permits through a lottery system. This will be a weighted lottery and you will accumulate preference points over time if unsuccessful. There is a $20 nonrefundable fee that is required. A sportsman may apply up to 5 times for increased chances. This Lottery will be available 06/1/2024 and ends 07/31/2024.

We will also, for the 2024 Buffalo Season, offer 2 Trophy Buffalo Hunts through a live auction. The starting bid price for these hunts is $5000. Bidding for these hunts will be available online by 06/1/2024.
The Turtle Mound Buffalo Ranch is located twenty five miles northeast of Poplar, Montana. The buffalo herd was reintroduced to our area in 1999. Currently, there are 200 head in the buffalo herd.
When hunting on the “Turtle Mound Buffalo Ranch” you will be hunting on over 13,000 acres of bluffs, rolling hills, and badlands territory. These are fair chase hunts and stalking will be required. These are not penned Buffalo.
The Fort Peck Reservation is home to two separate Indian nations, each composed of numerous bands and divisions.
The Sioux divisions of Sisseton, Wahpetons, the Yanktonais, and the Teton Hunkpapa are all represented.
The Assiniboine bands of Canoe Paddler and Red Bottom are represented.
The Reservation is located in the extreme northeast corner of Montana, on the north side of the Missouri River.
